    Annual reports for the year 2011 have been added to the archives of Nutshells and Annual Reports in the Member Area of the Website. Click HERE to access these new additions to the archives.
  • November 7, 2017 - Feature Article of the Month
    This month's article is introduced by Jerry Henkin, NNGA Librarian. It consists of two presentations: "Going Nuts from Growing Nuts in the East Branch Delaware Valley" by Michael Kudish and "Saving the Ash Tree" by Jonathan Rosenthal. Techniques for dealing with the Emerald Ash Borer that is killing ash trees can be utilized to protect nut trees from harmful insects. Click HERE to read this article and access the presentations.

    Click HERE to see two new requests for scion exchange. Some of the fruits and nuts which are part of these exchange requests are plums, peaches, persimmon, pawpaw, mulberry, heartnut, pecan and hickory.
  • October 8, 2017 - Nut Grower Calendar Updates
    Fall is the time to do fun things like going on hay rides, enjoying hot cider and sampling nuts. You can do this at the 8th Annual Chestnut Restoration Celebration in Meadowview, VA; at a farm in Spencer, NY and at a winery near Ithaca, NY. It is also a time when many nut grower and farm oriented organizations hold meetings. The New York Nut Growers Association will hold its meeting this month and the 5th annual Perennial Farm Gathering will be hod these in November. Both are open to the public.   • September 8, 2017 - Board of Directors Update
    NNGA welcomes our new president, Tim Ford, and vice president, Shawn Mehlenbacher. Jerry Van Sambeek and Jim McKenna were elected to the Board of Directors and will serve for three years. We thank our outgoing directors, Greg Miller and Shawn Mehlenbacher, for their service in the position of director.
  • September 7, 2017 - Feature Article of the Month
    This month's article was "Black and Burgundy Truffles as Agroforestry Crops on the Roots of Hazel and Oak Trees" by Gretchen Pruett and Johnn Bruhn. Division of Plant Sciences, University of Missouri, Columbia
    Truffles are a valuable additional crop that can be harvested by nut growers.
  • August 7, 2017 - Feature Article of the Month
    This month's article was "Promising Pawpaw" by Zhen Cai and Michael Gold of the Center for Agroforestry at the University of Missouri, a leader in pawpaw research. This article discusses the pawpaw's potential for becoming a high value niche crop.
  • August 6, 2017 - Stakeholders' Report added
    Click HERE to access the 2016 Stakeholders' Report and prior reports. The Stakeholders' Report includes the Treasurer's Report and the President's Report which addresses the state of NNGA and plans for the future.
